I used to hang out with an environmental compliance engineer a Fermilab, where work is focused on atomic particle acceleration and the building blocks of the universe - heavy stuff. Terry had been there when I met with her for 14 years, a follower of Jesus in a place with lots of smart people who have their scientific doubts about God. But that hasn't held Terry back. She believes God placed her in this context for more than work. About 10 years ago, she started a Bible exploration group at lunchtime with some other scientists who are Christians. There, they encourage anyone to come and explore their questions about God. Terry has also managed to convince human resources to sponsor serve projects for the local community under the guise of creating a positive culture in the workplace and along the way, she's at the privilege of seeing a number of her colleagues accept the Lord.

One such story is a guy at their Christmas party who came staggering up to Terry. Having a bit too much to drink, he said to her, "Hey, you're that Bible lady, aren't you?" And she said, "I guess I am." He said to her, "I've got some questions about the Bible." And she invited him to the lunchtime group. Eventually, he came to know Jesus as his Savior. So the question is: where has God placed you? Where do you find yourself each and every week where there's people that don't know Jesus and what are you going to do to make disciples in that place? To be the presence of Christ where God has placed you?

Let's pray. Lord Jesus, help us to recognize that we're in places and put into situations for more than just doing our work and going through our days. You've put us there because you have something bigger for us to do - maybe something greater. Maybe there's someone there who needs to hear the hope, the message of hope through Jesus that we have living inside of us. Give us the courage to speak it out the eyes, to see who needs it and the faith to step in that direction. In your name Jesus, we pray, amen.
