Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's Daily Dose in the Word of God. It's Monday, December 22nd. This is Jeff Klein reminding you to take your faith into the week beyond just Sunday.

Well, it's arrived - Christmas week is here. I'm sure you're feeling that Christmas spirit bubbling up all around you. Actually, Christmas spirit is no joke. In 2015, some scientists studied people's brains when showed images of Christmas - they found that Christmas spirit is actually a thing. The scientists concluded that people are nostalgic, open to spiritual ideas and full of memories around the Christmas season. This gives us an amazing opportunity to actually invite people into finding out the real reason for the season. I don't know if you've thought about it all, but this week at Elmhurst CRC, we have live nativity going on Tuesday evening at four, five and six. It's a great place to bring some neighbors and friends. We have Christmas Eve services that will be presenting the gospel about the reason that we celebrate Christmas (the fact that Jesus was born). This is another great opportunity to invite neighbors and friends!

You know, an invitation can be super simple. Bring in one of those cards from church. Just walk over and say, "Hey, I thought of you and thought maybe you'd want to join me at our Christmas Eve service at church!" If they say no, it's no big deal. Say something like, "maybe another time," and move on. Maybe you should be thinking and praying about this over the next few days. Who could you invite to ECRC where they can hear the gospel? You don't even have to even present it - the preachers will present it. You can just be alongside them and then hopefully answer their questions afterwards. Let's be inviters into Christmas this year - amen!
