Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's Daily Dose of the Word of God. It's Tuesday, December 9, and I'm Kara Hackert. Today's reading is from Isaiah 55, verses 1 through 2. As we journey through the Bible this year, we can better see the big picture of how God has been and is still at work for good in the world. Isaiah 55, verses one through two - invitation to the thirsty.

Kara Hackert 0:34

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.

Kara Hackert  1:04

What an invitation. One that is freely offered, one that is true and lasting -  an invitation to all of us who are in need of God's goodness during this time of yea. A time when we are bombarded with messages to spend and focus on things that are temporary and do not satisfy. Let's instead turn our focus to Jesus. Let's delight in the joy and peace that he brings.

Kara Hackert 1:36

Let's pray together. Dear Heavenly Father, we come now, thirsty for you. Help us to listen for and to hear your voice. Help us to turn our focus on you instead of the worldly things that do not satisfy. Let us remember to use our time and energy for things that truly matter. We thank you for your love,  joy, grace and uour goodness. To you be all the glory, amen.
