Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's Daily Dose in the Word of God. It's Monday, October 6th and this is Jeff Klein with your weekly reminder to take your faith Beyond Sunday and into the week.

My family and I were pretty psyched to land some cheap cub tickets this summer. Sure, we were high in the upper deck (like in the nosebleeds), but it was a clear night and we were there while the team stretched and the grounds crew prepared the field. We watched as the crowd made its way to their seats. That's when we spotted a man carrying something. He looked to have a big sack slung over his shoulder -but as he got closer, we realized that he was actually carrying a person with no arms or legs. Then we noticed the wheelchair. The twosome had made it up the ramps, but this was as far as they could go - the disabled man would have to be carried down to his seat. Now I've watched my own dad do this for my brother Chris, 1000s of times. In fact, me and my brother would done the same thing, but I was still amazed to see it again. It was love in action, right there in front of us at a baseball game. The Holy Spirit reminded me that I need to move outside myself - to take my eyes off myself, outside of myself and take up someone else's cross to share their burden. Who needs me to carry them? Who needs you to carry them? Who can we carry in order to put our love for Jesus in action throughout the week?

Let's pray. Father God, open our eyes that we would see the needs around us, and then Lord God, give us the willingness to step in and do something about what we see - to actually put our love on display. In your name Jesus we pray, amen.
