Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's Daily Dose in the Word of God. It's Monday, September 22 and this is Jeff Klein reminding you to take your faith Beyond Sunday and into your week.

Back in the day when my wife and I would tell our kids their weekly Saturday chore list, we expected action. We didn't expect they would come back to us and say, "Parents, we memorized your instructions and can repeat them back to you. You said, 'kids go clean your room.' We can even say those words in Greek and our friends are going to come over to study and discuss what it would look like if we cleaned our rooms." See where I'm heading? Jesus said that if we heard his words and obeyed his instructions by taking action, our lives would be built on the rock. One of Jesus major instructions was to go and make disciples - to introduce others to the Jesus that we met. Are we doing that, or have we merely memorized what he said? Spouting it back in a variety of ways, discussing and studying it all the time without any real results? How will it feel to stand before Jesus someday and tell him we heard some great sermons, had some great discussions about the Great Commission, but we really didn't actually make disciples. What will it take for us to get going? You have a chance - right now - to get out and talk to a neighbor and bring them to Alpha starting October 2. Let's go. Will you just memorize that? Or will you do it?

Let's pray. Jesus, we confess that we're good at hearing instructions and not actually doing them. Lord, I confess that's true for me. So Lord Jesus, help us to hear your voice, hear the words of instruction, and get out and do something. In your name we pray, amen.
