Kelly Day  0:07

Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's Daily Dose of the Word of God. I'm Kelly Day and  it's June 10 - Sunday's coming. Today's Bible reading is from Romans 8, 22through 25

Kelly Day  0:20

We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

Kelly Day 0:56

So as a mom who birthed 4 children, this verse sticks with me - groaning, as in the pains of childbirth. Let me tell you, birthing children is a painful process. It could be long moments of calm, followed by moments that are almost unbearable. But, after you get to hold that precious baby, there is great joy and relief. Life can look this way as well. Most of us will walk this earth many long years. We have good times of calm and difficult times that are painful. But those that have faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord also have great hope in the joy that lies ahead in heaven.

Kelly Day 1:46

I think we sometimes forget this truth, no matter how bad things get down here on Earth. We as Christians, can have hope in this future glory. Is life feeling long and painful? Good news! God has a plan and knowing that, we can live with joyful expectation of the end game. How are we to wait for this hope of heaven? Patiently! With the Spirit's help and counsel, lets live each day making the best of this current time that we have been gifted.

Kelly Day 2:23

Let's pray. Dear Lord Our Father in heaven, we thank you for this day. We praise you for the hope we have in heaven someday. We confess that sometimes the hardships and pain of this world distract us from you and your great plans for us. May we not lose hope and be dismayed, but remember that you are our God and trust that the best is yet to come with you in heaven. In Christ's name alone, amen.
