Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's Daily Dose of the Word of God. It's Monday, June 9. This is Jeff Klein, reminding you to take your faith Beyond Sunday and into your week.

Author Bill Mowry writes, "Everyone has a god-theme woven into their lives." The problem is that most people don't recognize it and no one comes alongside them in order to help them discover how God is at work in their life. We can't just barge right in and start spewing about God, so how can we become readers of other people's God theme? How can we help them discover where God's at work in their lives? We have to begin by intentionally loving them, by walking alongside them in order to earn the right to read another person's life and help them discover what God is doing there, you need to show them that you care about them as a person and not just a god project. You literally have to walk alongside people to help them discover where God is at work and how he is weaving his tapestry in the story of their lives. How do you do this? Well, you notice things. You have your eyes open about their life. You pray behind their back, even for God's insight into their story. You listen carefully. You ask good questions. You're curious about who they are and how they've come to believe what they believe and how they came to be who they are. You let them know that nothing they can tell you will change the way you treat them or think about them. This kind of lifestyle is actually an art - Jesus practiced this art regularly, especially with his disciples. For example, the way Jesus came alongside Peter to help him discover what God was asking him to do - how he would have to move in order to find and follow God's way. This is an amazing thing to read about.

Is there someone in your life who needs you to walk alongside them? Someone who needs help seeing that God-theme in their life? Someone who needs to be loved, towards Jesus and his way? Well, get going this Summer and get alongside that person and make it happen.
