Daily Dose of the Word of God - Romans 10: 9-13
Rachel Klooster & Billy Heschl
Rachel Klooster 0:07
Welcome to ECRC’s Daily Dose of the Word of God. I’m Billy Heschl, reading for Rachel Klooster. It’s Tuesday, June 3, but Sunday’s Coming. It’s the season of Easter, and we have the blessed opportunity to respond to the reality of Jesus’ resurrection life. Today’s Bible reading is from Romans 10:9-13
Rachel Klooster 0:29
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Rachel Klooster 1:00
Contained in these couple of verses is the whole good news of the Bible. A cheat-sheet of what and how to believe. In fact, they are so good, but so compact, let’s read the first two verses again slowly and let them sink in.
Rachel Klooster 1:15
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by opening declaring your faith that you are saved.
Rachel Klooster 1:41
This is a two-part process: internal and external. Things happening in your heart and things happening for the world to see. I don’t know about you, but for me, the internal is a lot easier. It comes somewhat naturally to have belief in my heart. I can read scripture and be convinced and convicted. What gets trickier is how to share that belief with others. We either get shy, or don’t want to overstep, or don’t know how to express ourselves. And sometimes we need discernment to know when to share the gospel overtly and when to just be kind and loving - show the gospel with our actions.
Rachel Klooster 2:19
Speaking of which, here is a shameless plug for the Farmers Market coming to our parking lot starting tomorrow! As we welcome visitors to our parking lot, we hope to show the gospel through our hospitality and graciousness. Wherever we find ourselves this week, let us be open to the times we can openly declare our faith. As well as be mindful of declaring in our own hearts that Jesus is Lord.
Rachel Klooster 2:45
Let’s Pray. Lord Jesus, we are grateful that you give us the opportunity to be right with God. When the opportunity arises for us to declare our faith openly, give us the courage to do so. And when doubts come to our hearts and minds, give us courage and wisdom to believe. In Jesus name, Amen
