Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's Daily Dose of the Word of God. It's Tuesday, April 15, in Holy Week. I'm Kara Hackert and this morning I'm reading to you from John 12, verses 23 through 29

Kara Hackert  0:22

Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.  “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!”  Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.

In children's worship on Sunday, we talked about stepping back and looking at the big picture of God's plan. How, in this life we will have trouble and bad things will happen. But, that doesn't mean that God isn't working. He is working, he always has been working and he always will be. We can have hope that good can come out of bad, that life can come out of death. We know the wonderful truth of what Jesus death means for us.He didn't stay dead - he rose and lives forever and we will live with him if we believe.

Let's pray together. Dear Jesus, thank you. Thank you for coming to be our Savior and to rescue us. You didn't need to suffer that pain and agony, but you did for us because you love us. Thank you for going ahead of us, help us to follow your way and your leading. To you be all the glory, amen.
