Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's Daily Dose the Word of God. It's Monday, April 14 - Holy Week - the weekly walk with Jesus to the cross and beyond the resurrection. This is Jeff Klein with your weekly reminder to take your faith andfollowing of Jesus into the week and Beyond Sunday.

I still play hockey twice a week with a bunch of guys around lunchtime. One week, I arrived there during a Holy Week. I walked into the gym and it was just me and one other guy. He asked me how my week was going and I said, "Well, it's a busy week at church. It's kind of the biggest week of the Church year!" And he said, "Really? Why?" I said, "Well, it's Maundy Thursday, then Good Fridaywhen Jesus dies on the cross and then Easter Sunday when he rises from the dead." And this young man looked at me with totally bewilderment on his face, as if he had never heard this before. And I said to him, "did you ever hear that Jesus died on a cross for your sins and then three days later, he rose from the dead? And he looked at me and said, "I've never heard that before. Never in my life."

I explained it to him, but then it hit me. For us, it's Holy Week, but how many people are walking around the world that don't know this? This week means nothing to them - nothing different than every other week of the year. Maybe they've heard about it more than my hockey friend had, but they still have no connection to any meaning with Holy Week.

One of the great things we can do in a week like this is to invite a neighbor or a friend to join us on the journey of Holy Week in some way. We can invite them to a church service or invite them to Easter Sunday hear the Gospel for the first time. Do you have anybody in your life that is like this? And could you find a way to enter into their life or into a conversation where you could invite them and make them aware of what's going on this week? This is part of our mission. This is part of the mission of Holy Week. Jesus died for all those people and he rose for all of them,whether they know it or not. So, let's get our missional muscles exercised and let's get out there and see if we can talk with somebody who doesn't really know any about this. Lets make it clear that it's Holy Week.

Let's pray. Jesus, help us to be missional people. Help us to be concerned and care about the people around us who don't know what we know. Help us to help somebody this week. Help us to take a step of understanding for what this week is all about. Thank you, Jesus for what you did for all of us and thank you for opening our eyes to see it and understand it. In your name we pray, amen.
