Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's Daily Dose of the Word of God. Today is Wednesday, April 2. My name is Kyle Olson and I serve here as the Technical Director. I'll be reading from The Voice translation of John chapter 12, verses 4 through 8.
Kyle Olson 0:26
Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples (who was plotting to betray Jesus), began to speak. Judas Iscariot: How could she pour out this vast amount of fine oil? Why didn’t she sell it? It is worth nearly a year’s wages; the money could have been given to the poor. This had nothing to do with Judas’s desire to help the poor. The truth is he served as the treasurer, and he helped himself to the money from the common pot at every opportunity. Jesus: Leave her alone. She has observed this custom in anticipation of the day of My burial. The poor are ever present, but I will be leaving.
Kyle Olson 1:11
Let's pray. Lord, thank you for your word. Thank you for Jesus's walk to his own death and to the cross for our sake. Let us follow his lead so that we may die a little and live a lot while we speak out against injustice, against hypocrisy and try to give grace and mercy to others while we do so. May we continue to repent and reset our path as we look forward to Easter and celebrating your resurrection in your name, amen.
