Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's Daily Dose of the Word of God. This is Kyle Olson and I serve here as the Technical Director. Today is Wednesday, March 26 and I'll be reading from The Voice translation of John 11, verses 49 through 54. It starts with the voice of Caiaphas, the high priest that year.

You have no idea what you are talking about; what you don’t understand is that it’s better for you that one man should die for the people so the whole nation won’t perish. His speech was more than it seemed. As high priest that year, Caiaphas prophesied (without knowing it) that Jesus would die on behalf of the entire nation, and not just for the children of Israel—He would die so all God’s children could be gathered from the four corners of the world into one people. In that moment, they cemented their intentions to have Jesus executed. From that day forward, Jesus refrained from walking publicly among the people in Judea. He withdrew to a small town known as Ephraim, a rural area near the wilderness, where He set up camp with His disciples.
Kyle Olson 1:26
Let's pray. Lord, thank you for your word. Thank you for Jesus's stories as he walked among us on Earth. As we hear about the crowds growing and the miracles, we are once again humbled by all of these things that could be unrelated - but yet the miracles and prophecies point to you. Lord, with all of this, we begin to see the bigger picture - that this is not just for the people of Israel - it is for us, each and every one of us in this world. You have brought your son to not only walk with us, but to redeem us and show us the way. So we ask for your grace and mercy as we try to follow the best way that we can. In your name, Amen.
