Kelly Day 0:07
Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's Daily Dose of the Word of God. It's Tuesday, March 18 and we're in the season of Lent. Today's reading is from John 11, 38 through 40.
Kelly Day 0:18
Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with the stone laid across the entrance. "Take away the stone," he said. "But Lord!" said Martha, the sister of the dead man. "By this time, there is a bad odor, for he has been there for four days!" Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?"
Kelly Day 0:48
When was the last time you were deeply moved? At a worship service,an epic movie, when you received kind words from someone you love? Maybe at a family member's funeral? Jesus was deeply moved here for the second time in John 11. His love for the people around him could not be contained - he felt love. Two verses later, Jesus tells Martha that she must believe to see the glory of God. Believing can be hard, because it's not about a feeling - it's a choice. It's a choice that opens our eyes to seeing God at work in a whole new way.
Kelly Day 1:26
At Coffee Break Bible study, we're currently going through a practice of talking about our God sightings. This practice helps us to to see God in our everyday. Sometimes it's just in the small things. Othertimes, it's in the really big things that we might have missed! Jesus was encouraging Martha to believe in him so she could fully appreciate and see what the Lord was doing all around her - If you believe, you will see the glory of God. Do you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If so, ask him to open your eyes and heart to how he's working in you and all around you.
Kelly Day 2:10
Dear Lord God, our Father in heaven, you are worthy of all of our praise. It is touching to read that you are deeply moved for us, your children. Thank you for loving us so. I pray Lord that in response, we too may believe in you. Please Lord, continue to help us see you working in our lives and that we may not lose heart, but live with fire for you. I ask that for those who are doubting and questioning your love for them today, that you'd move in them and they will choose to believe. In Jesus precious name, amen.
