Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's Daily Dose of the Word of God. Today is Ash Wednesday, March 5. My name is Kyle Olson, and I serve here as the Technical Director. I'll be reading from Joel chapter 2, verses 12 through 14.

This is the voice of the Eternal One.Even now, turn back your heart and rededicate yourselves to Me; Show Me your repentance by fasting, weeping, and mourning. Rip the wickedness out of your hearts; don’t just tear your clothing. Now return to the Eternal, your True God. You already know He is gracious and compassionate. He does not anger easily and maintains faithful love. He is willing to relent and not harm you. Who knows? Perhaps He will turn and relieve you of this threat, and leave behind some blessing as He goes— Maybe enough grain and wine to offer to the Eternal, your True God?

Let's pray. Lord, thank you for your word. Thank you for your faithful love.Thank you for your unending pull towards us so that we may turn and repentas we enter this time of Lent. Help us to rededicate ourselves. Help us to die just a little so that we may live a lot and through this journey of darkness, we may begin to see the light and the spring of hope. In your name, amen.
