Daily Dose of the Word of God: Acts 2:14-18

Kyle Olson Season 1 Episode 745

Kyle Olson

Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's daily dose of the Word of God. It's Wednesday, November 20. My name is Kyle Olson and I serve here as the Technical Director at Elmhurst CRC. It's the season of green and growing things starting to turn yellow, brown, orange and red, but God is still on a mission to keep us growing up in and out with our hearts ablaze. Today's reading is from Acts 2:14-18, the Voice translation

"Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

“‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
    and they will prophesy."

Let's pray,
Lord, thank You for Your word. Thank you for your spirit, thank You that You have given us this to boldly speak, to see visions, to dream dreams, to be drunk on your spirit, so much that we see and speak clearly. Lord, give us grace, mercy, empathy, understanding, so much so, so that when we walk in this world, people may think we're a little bit off, but that they may see Your light shining through us in Your Name. Amen.
