Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's Daily Dose of the Word of God. It's Wednesday, October 16 and it's the season of green and growing things, but it's also the season for Hearts Ablaze. Today's reading is from The Voice translation of John chapter 8, verse 12. This is Kyle Olson and I serve here as the Technical Director at ECRC.

On another occasion, Jesus spoke to the crowds again. "I am the light that shines through the cosmos. If you walk with me, you will thrive in the nourishing light that gives life and will not know darkness."

Let's pray through this. Jesus, thank you for your word. Thank you for being the light. Thank you for being the light that shines through the cosmos, essentially casting yourself across all that can be seen. Help us to learn to walk with you so that we may see as you see. We pray that we can thrive in that light and that it will give life to us so that walking with you will help us to not know darkness - the darkness within, the darkness in others and the darkness around us. We thank you for your gift of light. We thank you for your Holy Spirit, so that we may have the strength and perseverance to act with grace and mercy. In your name, amen.
