Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's daily dose of the Word of God. It's Wednesday, October 9, and it's the season of green and growing things because God is on a mission to keep us growing up, in and out. Today's reading is from The Voice translation of the biblical coffee shop - Hebrews chapter 1, verses 1 through 4.

Kyle Olson 0:33

Long ago, at different times and in various ways, God’s voice came to our ancestors through the Hebrew prophets. But in these last days, it has come to us through His Son, the One who has been given dominion over all things and through whom all worlds were made. This is the One who—imprinted with God’s image, shimmering with His glory—sustains all that exists through the power of His word. He was seated at the right hand of God once He Himself had made the offering that purified us from all our sins. This Son of God is elevated as far above the heavenly messengers as His holy name is elevated above theirs.

Kyle Olson  1:23

Let's pray. Lord, thank you for your word. Thank you for your son and thank you for your work here on Earth. Lord, as we consider, pray, and listen for your voice, help us to hear, understand, act, and accept it. Lord, we know that your son set forth so many things when he was here on earth. He gathered your people, he taught them so much, and he took on sin and suffering like no one has ever done before. Lord, as your Holy Spirit works within us and around us, let us be a light and let us continue to listen for your voice and see your work in this world. In your name, Amen.
