Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's daily dose in the Word of God. This is Jeff Klein, it's Monday, July 15, and I'm here with your weekly reminder to walk the way of Jesus throughout your week.

The nature of my wife's (Pam) work makes her schedule flux from day to day - her daily routine is rarely the same. But, as unpredictable as it is, she finds she bumps into the same people time and time again. Most likely, your life's a bit more regular than Pam's. Maybe you catch the same train or bus or you're the one who pulls your car into the Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks at precisely the same time every morning for your coffee. Or maybe you go to the same gym to work out each day at the same time. But here is where your life IS like Pam's: you too see the same people over and over again. Do you ever wonder why? I believe God is purposeful and amazingly orchestrates our lives working both the mundane and the amazing, the good and the not so good for his perfect purposes. Remember the story in Acts 3, where Peter and John are on their way into the temple for prayer and they see this lame man sitting by the temple gate? I'm sure that this was not the first time they saw him. In fact, I think Jesus probably passed by him several times. But this was God's time to do something to Peter and John and they healed him. These guys leaned into the moment and recognized that God had something for them to do. Why does God have you intersecting with the same people over and over again? Maybe he has something for you to do.

Let's pray. Father God, help us to discern when you're putting people in front of us for your purposes. Help us to lean in and to know when you're prompting us - to do more than just saying hello. In your name we pray Jesus, amen.
