Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's daily dose of the Word of God. It's Friday, January 14, and Sundays Comin'. This is Kara Hackert. And today I'll be reading from I Corinthians 12:7-11. "The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all. To some people, the Spirit gives a message of wisdom. To others, the same Spirit gives a message of knowledge. To others, the same Spirit gives faith, to others that one Spirit gives gifts of healing. To others, he gives the power to do miracles. To others he gives the ability to prophesy to others he gives the ability to tell the spirits apart. To others, he gives the ability to speak in different kinds of languages they had not known before, and still others, he gives the ability to explain what was said in those languages. All the gifts are produced by one in the same spirit. He gives gifts to each person just as he decides."

 Kara Hackert  01:11

Have you ever wondered if God has given you a spiritual gift? It may not be as dramatic as miracles and prophecy. But God has given gifts to his people to help do his work. Every gift is important. God gives us gifts intentionally, to work together and build up the body of Christ. Are you using your gift to build up the body? Is your gift helpful and encouraging to others? Are you seeking to follow God's will and be used by him?

Let's pray together and ask for his guidance in utilizing the gifts that He has given to us. Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the spiritual gifts that you've given us. Help us to identify them and to use them to serve your church. Let us use our gifts to build up your body and to follow your will help us to use the gifts that you have given us for Your glory and not for ours. Amen.
