Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's daily dose of the Word of God. It's Monday, January three, and it's the Season of Epiphany when things get revealed and Sunday is comin'. This is Gregg DeMey, I serve as Lead Pastor at Elmhurst CRC and I'll be reading today from Psalm 29. A Psalm of David, "Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings. Ascribe to the Lord of glory and strength, Ascribe to the LORD OF THE GLORY, due his name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of His Holiness. The voice of the Lord is over the waters. The God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful. The voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars, the Lord breaks in pieces, the cedars of Lebanon, he makes Lebanon leap like a calf and Syria and like a wild ox. The voice of the Lord strikes with flashes of lightning, the voice of the Lord shakes the desert the Lord shakes the desert of Kadesh, the voice of the Lord twists the oaksand strips the forest bare, and all in his temple cry, 'Glory!' The Lord sits in throne over the flood. The Lord is enthroned as King forever. The Lord gives strength to His people. And the Lord blesses His people with peace."

Friends in the church here it is indeed a new season-Epiphany a time when things get revealed. The first Epiphany usually being observed on January six, commemorating when the three wise men came to Bethlehem. And it was revealed to them that Jesus born of Mary and Bethlehem was indeed the Son of God. In Psalm 29, God reveals things and gets things rolling, by speaking a word God speaks, and it becomes so.  Did you notice how many times in Psalm 29 the phrase," the voice of the Lord" is used and repeated? In Sunday morning worship, we're going to do an awesome musical rendering of the Psalm. God speaks and things happen.

Will you pray with me? Oh God, as we turn into a new year, would you be so kind and good as to speak a word into and over my life? Would your voice speak into and over my family and friends? Would your voice speak into our church? God, would you be so good as to speak a word over this world of yours that you love so much? for Jesus' sake, Amen.
