Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's daily dose of the Word of God. It's Wednesday, June 26, it's the season of green and growing things, including our spiritual lives. This summer, we are sitting at Jesus' feet and listening to his parables, stories that shed meaning on our lives. My name is Kyle Olson and I serve here as the Technical Director. I'll be reading from Jeremiah chapter 29, verses 4 through 7 (The Voice). This is Jeremiah's letter.

Kyle Olson  0:38

This is what the Eternal, Commander of heavenly armies and God of Israel, says to those He exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon: “Build houses—make homes for your families because you are not coming back to Judah anytime soon. Plant gardens, and eat the food you grow there. Marry and have children; find wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, so that they can have children. During these years of captivity, let your families grow and not die out. Pursue the peace and welfare of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to Me, the Eternal, for Babylon because if it has peace, you will live in peace.”

Kyle Olson 1:24

Let's pray for it. Thank you for your word, your promises and for your loving presence in our lives. Lord, when we ask you for direction - in whatever state that we may find ourselves in - we know that you are looking out for us and have the best for us in mind. And while some of the answers we receive are not ones that we like, we can be assured that they come from you. Help us to pursue peace and to pursue the welfare of the cities and communities that we live in. Let our eyes be your eyes and let your will be yours, because if those places have peace, we will have peace as well. In your name, amen.
