Kyle Olson, Technical Director

Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's daily dose of the Word of God. This week we will mind the gap between what we know and what we do with what we know. This is Kyle Olson and I serve as the Technical Director here at ECRC. I will be reading from The Voice translation of Matthew 7, verses 24 to 29.

Kyle Olson 0:29

Those people who are listening to me, those people who hear what I say and live according to my teachings—you are like a wise man who built his house on a rock, on a firm foundation. When storms hit, rain pounded down and waters rose, levies broke and winds beat all the walls of that house. But the house did not fall because it was built upon rock. Those of you who are listening and do not hear—you are like a fool who builds a house on sand. When a storm comes to his house, what will happen? The rain will fall, the waters will rise, the wind will blow, and his house will collapse with a great crash. With that Jesus finished His teaching, and the crowds were amazed by all he had said. But Jesus taught in his own name, on his own authority, not like the scribes.

Let's pray. Lord, thank you for your word. Thank you for your teaching. Thank you for the simple truth that cuts straight to the point. Lord, help us to follow you. Help us to build our house on your rock, your firm foundation. Help us to listen. Help us to hear, help us to follow through. Lord, the rain can pound down, the waters will rise and the winds will beat all of the walls - we pray that we find our strength in you with your grace and your mercy and unending love. In your name, Amen.
