Rebekah Wilson 0:07

Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's daily dose of the Word of God. Today is Tuesday, May 30, and this is Rebekah Wilson. Today, I'm going to be reading Romans 8, verses 1 through 4 again. I'll be reading from the New Living Translation.

Rebekah Wilson 0:23

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.

Rebekah Wilson 1:07

Let's pray. Father God, we come before you and we are so grateful. We're thankful for your Holy Spirit and that he dwells within us and allows us to be guided. That we can follow him, follow his voice and his leading in our lives. We praise you so much Father - that you have freed us from the power of sin (that leads to death) and instead, you sent your Son to save us and be the perfect sacrifice for our sins. And Lord, I pray over these next two months that you would allow these truths to take root deep in our hearts. That they would be the foundation of our identity in Christ, who we are that we are saved, no matter what we have done, what we will do, what we accomplish - we are saved through faith. And I pray that as we continue to read Romans, that you would just allow us to let these words and these truths saturate every part of our lives. I pray that this would be a good work of the Holy Spirit and that it would bring glory to you. I pray all these things in Jesus name, Amen.
