Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's daily dose of the Word of God. It's Monday, May 22. I'm Kara Hackert and today I'm going to read to you from Isaiah 55, verses 1 through 3.

Kara Hackert  0:19

Invitation to the thirsty. “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.

Kara Hackert  0:59

Let's read that passage again. But this time, ask these three questions as I read. Who was invited? What are they offered? What are they told to do in order to receive what is offered?

Isaiah 55, verses 1 through 3.

Kara Hackert  1:54

He said, "come all who are thirsty." Everyone is welcome. Everyone's invited. He's providing refreshment, nourishment and life. What do we need to do to receive this everlasting life? God says, "Listen to me. Come to me that you might live." Listen to his message; to what he has to say and go to him. Delight in him. The precious gifts of his love and salvation are free.

Kara Hackert  2:27

Let's pray together. Father, thank you for the gifts of your love and salvation. Thank you for the joy that comes from life in you. Help us draw near to you and give us your peace. Amen.
