Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's daily dose of the word of God. It's Wednesday, November 2, and Sunday's coming. This is Kyle Olson and I'll be reading from The Voice translation of Psalm 149.

Kyle Olson  0:21

Praise the Eternal! Write new songs; sing them to Him with all your might! Gather with His faithful followers in joyful praise; Let all of Israel celebrate their Maker, their God, their friend; let the children of Zion find great joy in their true King. So let the music begin; praise His name—dance and sing to the rhythm of the tambourine, and to the tune of the harp. For the Eternal is listening, and nothing pleases Him more than His people; He raises up the poor and endows them with His salvation. Let His faithful followers erupt in praise, singing triumphantly wherever they are, even as they lie down for sleep in the evening. With the name of God and praise in their mouths, with a two-edged sword in their hands, Let them take revenge on all nations who deny God. Let them punish the peoples. Kings and nobles will be locked up, and their freedom will be bound in iron shackles. This judgment against them, decreed by a holy God, will be carried out.     It’s an honor for all His faithful followers to serve Him. Praise the Eternal!

Well, that kind of took a turn there. Let's pray. Lord, thank you for your word. Thank you that it tells us to write new songs, and to sing them with all of our might. Thank you for music. Thank you that we may dance, and sing, and move, and proclaim your glory through those things. Help us to raise up the poor. Help us to continually seek your salvation, to be a solution to the problems of this world. Help us to stay reverent and fearful of you so that we may continue to walk on your path laid before us. Lord, it is an honor to serve you, and we thank you for that. In your name, Amen.
