Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's daily dose of the Word of God. It is Wednesday, March 27, it's the season of Lent and we're walking with Jesus. My name is Kyle Olson and I serve here as the Technical Director and I'll be reading from The Voice translation of John 13, verses 6 through 11 - It's conversation between Peter and Jesus.

Kyle Olson  0:32

Lord, are you going to wash my feet? Peter, you don't realize what I'm doing, but you will understand later. You will not wash my feet now or ever. If I don't wash you, you will have nothing to do with me. Then wash me but don't stop with my feet, cleanse my hands and my head as well. Listen, anyone who has bathed is clean all over, except for the feet. But I tell you this, not all of you are clean. Jesus knew the one with plans of betraying him, which is why he said not all of you are clean.

Kyle Olson  1:13

Let's pray. Lord, thank you for your word. Thank you for your sacrifice on the cross and thank you for everything that you did on Earth so that we may learn and that we may follow you in your ways. When we hear Simon Peter explaining that he's not worthy of even having Jesus just to wash his feet, it definitely hits home. When we stand before you, Lord and you are the one that sees us, inside and out - It's humbling, even shaming in a way. But yet we know that you are the God of mercy and the God of grace, and that you sent your son to show us the way. We thank you for all these things. In your name, amen.
