Welcome to Elmhurst CRC's daily dose of the Word of God. It's March 13, it's the season of Lent and we're walking with Jesus. This is Kyle Olson and I'll be reading from The Voice translation of Luke 18, verses 23 through 28.

Kyle Olson  0:25

The man heard these words and sadness came over his face, for his wealth was considerable. Jesus: What a hard thing it is for those with much wealth to enter the kingdom of God! In fact, it would be easier for a camel to squeeze through the eye of a needle than it would be for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God!  Listeners: Then who can be liberated?  Jesus: Remember, what is humanly impossible is possible with God. Peter: We have left our homes and followed you.

Kyle Olson  1:06

Let's pray. Lord, thank you for today. Thank you for your word. Thank you for the hard truths. Lord, this is a tough one for us, considering that we have so much and that we live around so much. There are so many resources and riches that you have blessed us with, especially in the Western suburbs of Chicago. It is amazing that we still feel that we may not have enough - that there's still more just out of reach for us. But, you tell us to give it all away and how hard that can be. You (also) tell us, that it is possible with God. We pray for those possibilities and for your help. We know we can't do it on our own and as we try to let go, Lord, I pray that we find that it's easier, lighter and quicker. Our burden is lifted so that then we can follow you. We thank you for all these things, in your name, amen.
